Understanding the “Enterprise Application” through the knowledge of the distributed environment and its connection to the mainframe.
Docet DE/EA extends DOCET’s perception of the distributed platforms acquiring a wealth of information of the “Open System” objects, Web and Unix, tracing their connections to the applications and systems residing on the mainframe (OS/390, z/OS) from a stand point of integrated visibility and of a higher level: that of the “Enterprise Application”.
Through Docet EA, the RES SG Repository becomes the focal point of every documentation system centrally gathering all information enterprise
wide.
Allows easy access to information anywhere it resides and from wherever you are.
WIC, Web Information Center, allows to exploit quickly and efficiently information gathered within the “RES Suite SG Repository” and additionally extends this concept to objects outside the database providing real time access to other subsystems such as, DB2, TWS, and CA-7.
The ability to use any Web browser and its very powerful Query and graphical system, make Wic the ideal tool for spreading information within an organization. Wic is fully configurable and easy to use by any area that has Web browsing capability and allows to access any information whether it resides on the mainframe, on the Web or in a distributed environment.
Maximum security and reliability in the
management of JCL and Batch Nets in OS/390 and Z/OS environments.
- Drastically reduces production errors
- Optimises adherence to corporate standards
- Provides maximum automation of the activities required to manage multiple production environments
- Drastically reduces the time required to manage production objects
- Increases the productivity of personnel responsible for creating/maintaining JOBS and Scheduling Nets.
Optimising the reliability and performance of
batch processes in OS/390 and Z/OS environments.
- Generation of standard scheduling nets and jobs
- Behaviours standardization in the event of anomalous termination
- Totally reliable backup and restore processes
- Automatic documentation of optimised processes
- Automatic alignment of multiple production environments and automatic quantitative alignment
- Drastic reduction in time taken to activate new applications in production
- Drastic reduction in intervention times of applications already active in production
- Optimized processing times for the applications themselves.
Simplifying the links between batch s
- Simpler and more efficient management of scheduling Nets
- Optimum configuration of Nets where external links are concerned
- Drastic reduction in time taken to standardise links
- Automatically prepares Nets that are to be the inputs for reengineering activities.
- Constantly monitor the processing flow of production processes
- Forecast the deviation of the actual processing flow from the planned result, thereby being able to take
action before this deviation results in any damage
- Obtain immediate indication of an anomalous termination, thereby making it possible to minimise the resultant fault
- Aggregate the processing to be monitored in high-level objects to summarise the monitoring
of all critical or essential services in a small number of monitoring units
- Plan processes and simulate their impact on the production environment before they are actually activated.
The complete solution for planning, simulating and monitoring production processes in OS/390 and Z/OS environments.
- It becomes easy to identify critical paths in batch processing
- Users have all the information at their fingertips that is required to optimise scheduling plans
- Reduction in overall processing times.
Automates and coordinates Change Management
processes for Jobs and Job Nets.
- Simplifies and automates the transition of Jobs and Job Nets to production
- Eliminates the errors and disalignments typical of manual change management
- Cuts the time required to actuate Change Management processes.
The graphical tool for designing and
generating JCL and Batch Applications in OS/390 and Z/OS environments.
- Drastically reduces the time and work required to design, generate and maintain applications
- Allows all Production personnel to prepare Jobs and Scheduling Nets in parallel with the development
of programs in the application environment, consequently achieving significant savings in the elapsed time of the total projects
- Totally eliminates the need to transfer detailed information between the applications area and production management area
- Optimises adherence to corporate standards when creating objects relating to production.
Giving end users the autonomy of managing their own batch processes and assigning values to parameters.
UpTown –User Process toward Web Network– provides end users with the capability to manage their own batch jobs submissions based on their request and an automated process for assigning values to parameters of pre—planned batch processes.
Through its user friendly and intuitive Web interface the end user can autonomously request batch jobs submissions through the job scheduling system without involving the data center personnel responsible for batch processing.
UpTown gives the end user the ideal interface for providing the parameters or input files, to check on the processing status, or on the results and on the received output produced.
UpTown also allows to automatically assign a value to parameters also for normal batch jobs.
Its architecture and features allows to connect parameters definition and modification to the –Change Management– cycle and other technologies that support it.
Analisys of the IT asset consistency.
ARPA is a component of the RES OA family of products which are designed to perform a detailed analysis of all software objects within your mainframe I.T. environment and their relationships to identify potential inconsistencies between the components of the mainframe software I.T. assets. Through this process ARPA is able to intercept and highlight the anomalies that very often lead to a decline in the quality and an increase in the cost of I.T. asset management cost. This is typically the result of issues such as the presence of obsolete objects, duplicate objects in different environments, structural discrepancies and/or the lack of various objects that are necessary for a successful execution of the software in question. ARPA incorporates as part of the product a set of corrective tools that when coupled with standard system utilities, are able to remove the identified anomalies.
Automatic check on the software to ensure quality.
HplQA is a Quality Assurance product for host languages that can be used by various departments and at different levels in
the I.T. organization.
- Automatic and effective software control
- Quality standards adherence
- Drastic errors reduction
- Maintenance cost reduction
- Easy software evaluation
- Perception of better quality by the clients of the IT services
- Service Levels increase
- Overall cost reduction.
Measurement extension.
QA-me is the RES Suite component focused on the sw "metrics calculations".
- Establish the weak areas in the IT systems in terms of “defects” (true or probable) and/or too much complexity
- Monitor over time the increase of costs, both in regards to management and in regards to the usage of
resources.
This latter may be due to new software versions. To evaluate the outsourcing costs and the “application maintenance”
both in preventive terms and cost terms
- Define and measure the SLA
- Dimensional metrics
- Complex structural metrics
- Open metrics.
